Bath Spa University IT Helpdesk, the IT Helpdesk is responsible for providing first and second line support for all IT based systems within BSU enabling you to get the best performance from your IT.


When faults happen, we aim to restore your services as quickly as possible with the minimum of fuss.

On-site technicians are available if any problem cannot be solved remotely.

We also provide advice and support on purchase of hardware, software and mobile devices, including mobile phones.

We install, configure and troubleshoot approved hardware and software, i.e. BSU equipment, and cover both Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac devices.

Aims of the IT Helpdesk

  • Use technical best practice to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Use operational best practices to manage and maintain the desktop environment.
  • Proactively maintain and improve BSU’s workstation environment.

To achieve these aims we follow well-established IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practices to meet the requirements of BSU both now and into the future.

To maintain the team’s expertise we invest in a training and accreditation programme; this means that BSU has qualified professionals designing and maintaining its desktop environment.


IT Services now offer a 24x7x365 IT help on our usual number (01225 87) 6500.

Or via email and by visiting our Helpdesk at Newton Park Library LY.119 where the desk staff will be in attendance during 08:30am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

After 5.00pm and up until 8.30am each weekday, all day during the weekend and on public holidays the telephone will be answered.

The majority of the calls are related to password issues. To manage your own password, please register on the Student Password Reset Tool –; once registered you will be able to reset your BSU logon account password any time without the need to contact the Helpdesk.

Currently this tool does not enable you to reset your Google password. Please contact the IT Helpdesk on (01225 87) 6500, during office hours only, to reset your Google password, if forgotten.

All IT hardware purchases will be as a request via IT Services.

Preferred manufacturers

IT Services will maintain a list of preferred manufacturers for certain devices. Experience has shown that significant time and cost savings are achieved by standardising. The current list of preferred manufacturers is:
