Bangor University Zoological Society

Bangor University Zoological Society, affectionately known to its members as “ZooSoc”, is a Society that was created for those who take an interest in Animals and Zoology. We meet every Tuesday evening at 7pm in the A12 Lecture room in Brambell Building, where we host many events including; talks, presentations and practical sessions conducted by a wide range of speakers and guests, each specialising in a different area of Zoology.

As well as the academic side there is also a strong social side to the society – after each meeting members are invited to come for either a quiet drink and often an opportunity to gain a more informal introduction to our guest speakers as well as the society committee and fellow members at our favourite pub, to watch films and have snacks in the university Cinema Room, or to take part in late night wildlife walks and activities such as our always popular Bat Walk.

We are very proud to say that we have members from many different backgrounds as not all of our members study Animal-based Sciences. In the past our success as a society has shone through as in the academic year 2015/16 our members voted us as not only the Academic Society of the Year in the anual Bangor University Scoiety Awards, but also as the overall Best Society of the year, and we hope to continue this success and uphold our strong reputation for many years to come!
