Brian Walker is Professor of Endocrinology at the University of Edinburgh and a former MRC Training Fellow and BHF Senior Research Fellow.
His translational research includes the role of glucocorticoids in metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease, and the link between low birthweight and subsequent activation of the HPA axis in humans.
Professor Walker has supervised 16 clinical research fellows, 11 of whom are now in academic posts.
He is Co-Director of the Edinburgh Clinical Academic Training (ECAT) scheme, mentor to its many recruits in various disciplines, chair of the development group of the Edinburgh MSc in Translational Medicine, and has been a member of the Wellcome Trust’s Clinical Interview Committee since 2007.
