Aston University Qualifications
Academic Entry Requirements
All applications to our programmes are considered on their individual merits but we expect each applicant to have reached an appropriate level of academic achievement and English Language proficiency. While each programme has a set level of entry requirements listed in the relevant prospectus here are the minimum general entry requirements for each level of study.
Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements of GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above for all programmes. In addition, applicants will be expected to present one of the following qualifications at the appropriate grades:
- GCE/VCE A levels
- International Baccalaureate
- Scottish Advanced Highers
- Irish Leaving Certificate
- Recognised Access or Foundation programme
In addition to these qualifications, we accept applicants with a wide range of equivalent international qualifications plus a recognised English Language Qualification.
Applicants who do not meet our entry requirements for entry to the first year of one of our undergraduate degree programmes may wish to apply for a place on one of our International Foundation Programmes.
Generally speaking, if your home system of education is a 12 year system rather than the English 13 year system, then you may have to successfully complete the International Foundation Programme first prior to entry onto year one of an undergraduate degree programme. Successful completion of this programme of study will lead to automatic entry to one of our undergraduate degree programmes. We do also consider applicants holding certain externally run Foundation Programme qualifications.
We encourage applications from mature students (over 21 years old) and will consider each such application on its own merits. We usually require evidence of successful study in relevant subjects, or relevant professional qualifications or experience.
Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements of GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above for all programmes.
