English Language

It is also important that you have the correct English Language skills as well as artistic and creative skills as all our courses have a strong academic component. You can find out more about our English language requirement and how you can improve your English on our English Support page.

As well as assessing your application on your qualifications the university is interested in how you translate ideas visually for others. For this reason we require applicants to submit a Portfolio of Artwork for most of our courses (the exceptions are Creative Events Management, Fashion Communications & Marketing and Creative Writing, which are assessed on your application, and Acting and Dance are based on auditions).

You can view portfolio guidelines for all our pre-degree and undergraduate courses and further advice on preparing and submitting a portfolio is available here.

Visas and Immigration

You may also wish to take into consideration the UK’s visa and immigration requirements as once you have been accepted on a course many international students require visas to come and study in the UK. We strongly recommend starting your visa application early in case there are any delays, as this may result in you missing the start of your course.
