Resit Information and Resit Charges

Undergraduate students in Part Two who have progressed to their next year of study but are carrying failures from last session have an opportunity to retrieve any failures by registering as an internal resit candidate in the following session, provided they received an ‘F’, ‘A’, ‘H’, or ‘S’ resit indicator. Please check the information about examinations available on the university website for the meaning of these different resit indicators. Academic departments can advise on whether students should resit particular failed modules. It is important that all students consult with the appropriate department(s) for the resit requirements.
To register for an Internal Resit;
Students must register to resit by completing either the on-line Internal Registration Facility available during October on your student record on the web or by completing an Internal Resit Form which you can request from the Academic Quality and Records Office (firstname.lastname@example.org). Your resit registration must be approved by your department. The deadline for registering for resits is the 31 October. If you submit work or attend examinations without having registered to resit then any mark you obtain will not appear on your record and will not count towards your degree. To withdraw from a resit;
If, after registering to resit a module, you decide not to resit, for whatever reason, including if your department has advised against you resitting it, you must withdraw by the 15 November for semester 1 resits and the 15 March for semester 2 resits. Failure to withdraw from a resit, even if you do not turn up for the examination, or hand in your written assessment for the module in which you are registered will mean that you will still be liable for the resit fee and your record will show that you resat and failed. Note that the highest mark obtained in the module will still be counted towards your degree.
In order to withdraw you must email firstname.lastname@example.org with your student details and the module code of the module(s) you wish to be de-registered from.
The Internal Resit fees are the same as for the August resit fees which are available here.
There is a resit charge for all students who have a resit indicator of ‘A’, ‘R’, ‘P’ and ‘F’. These charges will normally be waived in the case of students with ‘M’, ‘H’, ‘S’ or ‘T’ resit indicators.
Charge for failed modules in 2016/2017:
- 10 credits – £70
- 20 credits – £95
- 30 credits – £120
- 40 credits or more – £140

For postal payment, credit card payment or enquiries please contact the Cash Office as detailed below; payments in person can be made during office hours at the Cash Office, 2nd Floor of the Student Welcome Centre, Penglais Campus. Please do not send payments to the Academic Quality and Records Office.
