Primo for Researchers

Primo is the Aberystwyth University library catalogue and offers fast full-text searching of journal and database records from participating publishers. As a researcher it is worth spending some time experimenting with the many search refining options and the My Account and E-Shelf services.

Search the library catalogue

The default search is of Aberystwyth University’s catalogue:

Primo Central: articles, full-text online and recommendations

Primo Central is a fast and powerful search of millions of journal articles and database records, with full-text links, harvested from participating publishers. You can select Primo Central from the drop down search box:

  • Search Primo Central to find full-text journal articles from thousands of journal titles to which we have full text subscriptions. Find Primo Central in the Search menu in Primo
  • If a Recommendations tab appears in your search results this will show you recommended articles gathered centrally from Primo Central.


Searching subject databases

Through Aberystwyth University you have access to a diverse range of internationally developed databases on every subject with links to citations, full text articles, data, and archival resources:

  • Click Databases A-Z in Primo to browse all our subscribed databases and some high-quality free online resources
  • You can select databases by ticking boxes for cross searching or on the database name to search in its native interface
  • Or, you can click on the Category drop down box to find databases on specific subjects
  • Databases include amongst others: Web of Knowledge, LION, Mass Observation Online, Nexis, Lexis, ESDS, Digimap, ERIC, LISTA, PsycArticles, Westlaw, FAME, Land, Life and Leisure, CAB Direct and CAB ebooks, Institute of Physics Journal, ScienceDirect.


Find full-text online on and off-campus

Although different publishers provide full text access in different ways you can access Aberystwyth University’s e-resources on and off campus:
