Abertay University Sports Union
Sport is one of the most valuable and rewarding aspects of University life. Abertay University offers a fantastic opportunity to experience new sports, to enjoy recreational sport and make new lifelong friends.
Sports clubs are the main way in which students engage with sport, at any level, and progress from spectator to participant to high performer. Our sports clubs have an acknowledged and primary role in fostering sport in the community by offering opportunities to get “more people, more active, more often” (Sportscotland, 2000). We strive to support and achieve high sporting performance, within local, regional, national and international competition. The first experience in sport is critical for the ongoing development of the athlete and Abertay Sport aim to make the transition between higher education and further education sport as smooth as possible. Abertay also support a large number of students through Continuous Personal Development providing funding for qualifications in Coaching, Refereeing and Fitness. Not only is joining one of Abertay’s clubs a great way to meet people but you can also be a member of the club committee having the final say on the direction of your club and further enhancing your university experience.
A membership fee is required to enrol yourself in the Sports Union if you are joining one of the teams competing in BUCS Leagues. Membership is available to all matriculated students and range from £20 – £40. Visit the section for more details.
