Abertay University Football Team

Men’s Football

We have two amazing teams competing in the BUCS and the BUCS Scottish 5A, rivalling clubs from all over Scotland.

Abertay University Men’s Football Club has achieved huge success over the past three years. Last year they reached the pinnacle of Scottish university football, winning the BUCS 1A title with a last-minute win against Napier in the last game of the season.

They have also reached a number of cup finals and consistently got the better of main rival Dundee University in league, cup and varsity. A successful season for Abertay Men’s Football saw them shortlisted for the very prestigious Scottish Student Sport Team of the Year Award.

After winning 1A, the team needs to concentrate on a second consecutive title and making the sizable leap to the British North league.

The club has two teams playing competitively in BUCS. The 2nd team play in BUCS Scottish 4B where they competed well last season but lost momentum after Christmas, finishing a respectable third. The 2nd team insures the pressure is on for places in the 1st squad.

Woman’s Football is traditionally one of the strongest clubs at Abertay and have enjoyed much success in the past. The 2015/16 season saw the team struggle in the league however they had a strong cup run reaching the semi-finals, the club’s targets this year of promotion and winning the SSS Conference Cup demonstrate the talent and ambition within the squad for 2016-17. The highlight of the year was a cup and Varsity double over Dundee University, the latter of which was 7-2 thrashing to the mighty Tay ladies.
